Terms
Plain terms for using Kaizen Vault while it is in a closed beta. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these. If you do not agree, do not use it.
It is beta software
- The app is not finished and has not completed an independent security audit.
- It may change, break, or be paused while we harden it.
- Access runs in small groups and may be limited, delayed, or withdrawn.
Your key is yours alone
Your vault is unlocked by a master PIN that only you know. It never reaches our servers.
- We cannot see your vault, reset your PIN, or recover your data.
- If you forget your PIN, no one can open your vault, including us.
- There is no back door, on purpose. Keep a way to remember it.
There is no backup on our servers
This is the most important thing on this page, and you accept it separately when you sign up.
Your vault is stored only on your phone. We do not sync it, copy it, or hold any form of it. That is what lets us say your secrets never leave your device, and it has a cost you need to understand.
- If you uninstall the app, lose your phone, or wipe it, every saved password is gone permanently.
- We cannot restore it. There is nothing on our side to restore from.
- Reinstalling gives you a working account again, but an empty vault.
Making your own backup
Because we hold nothing, the app lets you export an encrypted backup file and keep it wherever you choose. It never passes through our servers.
- The file is protected by a separate passphrase you pick, not your PIN.
- Losing that passphrase means losing that file. We cannot open it either.
- A file has none of the protections your phone has, so choose a strong passphrase and store the file somewhere you trust.
- A backup is a snapshot. Restoring an old file returns your vault as it was on the day you made it.
Signing in on a new phone
An account is tied to one device at a time. Signing in on a new phone with your email, password, and a one-time code moves the account to it and signs the old one out.
We email you whenever that happens. If it was not you, that email contains a link that ends every session immediately. Use it, then change your password.
Acceptable use
- Do not use the app to break the law or to store someone else’s secrets without their consent.
- Do not attack, overload, or try to bypass the security of the service.
- Do not resell or redistribute the app as your own.
No warranty
The app is provided as is, without warranties of any kind. To the extent the law allows, kaizenstudio is not liable for lost data or damages arising from use of the beta. Keeping your PIN, and deciding whether to keep your own backup, are yours to manage.
Changes
We may update these terms as the product grows. Each version is dated, and we record which version you accepted when you signed up. Material changes will be reflected here before launch.
